The Role Of A Prenatal Dietitian

As your prenatal dietitian, we are here to help you in all aspects of nutrition during your pregnancy. At Nourish to Flourish, we aim to provide you with gentle guidance and the right resources to nurture both your health and your baby’s. Here’s how we make that happen:

Side effects are extremely common in pregnancy with some women experiencing symptoms within the first couple of weeks. Nausea and vomiting are prevalent symptoms and can last through the first trimester (13 weeks) or longer. Feeling sick to your stomach can be miserable, but with our prenatal nutrition services, we help you manage side effects so your symptoms don’t disrupt your daily routine!

Our registered dietitians work with you to calculate your nutritional dietary requirements, such as caloric intake, macronutrient distribution and healthy weight gain. We will monitor and provide recommendations in order to achieve this optimal prenatal nutrition intake.

Just as we assess your macronutrients, we will also guide you to achieve the appropriate distribution of micronutrients and suggest supplements as needed. Some common micronutrients that we will evaluate are: folate, iodine, iron, zinc, Vitamin D, calcium, choline, Omega 3 and Vitamin B6.

We understand it can be scary if you have existing medical conditions or develop health complications during your pregnancy. Our professional, expert team has the knowledge and skills to treat a variety of pregnancy-related complications such as gestational diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, pre-eclampsia and more.

We will educate you on the role of prenatal nutrition in genetic programming and the steps you can take now to prevent future health risks for your baby, such as food allergies, fussy eating, immune development and more.

We recognize you may also have questions or concerns about common prenatal nutrition topics, and we are happy to provide you with well-researched information.
